IGCSEs are the international version of GCSEs, set by Cambridge International (CAIE) or Pearson Edexcel International and taken in schools worldwide as well as in some UK independent schools. The two boards differ enough in content and assessment that a tutor needs to know which one before planning a lesson.
We also build cookie, the revision app, and every student and every tutor here gets it at no extra cost. This is what it has for IGCSE to use between lessons.
They differ in topic coverage, in how coursework and practical work are handled, and in the shape of the papers. Revision material for the wrong one covers content a student does not need and misses content they do.
Every tutor profile lists the boards they teach, and the tutor list can be filtered by board.
Several CAIE IGCSEs are tiered into Core and Extended, with Core carrying a grade ceiling in the same way GCSE Foundation does. Being entered for the wrong tier costs a student either grades they could have had or a paper they cannot access.
IGCSEs lead naturally into A-Levels and are accepted by UK sixth forms and universities on the same footing as GCSEs. Where they differ slightly in coverage, particularly in Maths and the sciences, a few lessons in the summer beforehand is usually all it takes.
Yes, for UK sixth-form and university entry. They are graded on the same 9–1 or A*–G scale depending on the specification.

Extended covers more content and is needed for the higher grades; Core carries a grade ceiling. It matters for entry decisions.
Yes, routinely. Coverage differs slightly in Maths and the sciences, and a few bridging lessons over the summer usually closes it.
Yes, and it is worth naming when you enquire, because it is a different qualification from First Language English with a different mark scheme.
