A shared whiteboard for every lesson
In a Cookie Tutoring lesson, tutor and student write on the same board, with proper maths notation, graphs and photos of written work, and the board is kept after the lesson.
A sample lesson board, as the tutor sees it. AI help is optional and starts closed. The tutor opens it and asks AI to draw a right-angled triangle with sides 3, 4 and c, and it is drawn on the board for both of them. The student writes 3² + 4² = c², then 9 + 16 = 24. The tutor checks the working privately: there is a mistake, and the AI suggests asking what 9 + 16 is. Nothing goes on the board. Then the tutor makes flashcards from the lesson, keeps the ones they want and sends them to the student.
A person is teaching. AI help stays closed unless one of you opens it.
Nothing happens until one of you asks.
What is on the board
The tools a lesson needs, and AI help only when somebody presses for it.
Maths that looks like maths
Type fractions, powers and roots and they appear as a neat equation, and the graph plotter draws functions you can move and label.
Written work in seconds
Scan the QR code on the board with your phone and a photo of your work appears on it. A PDF, a picture or a past paper goes on too.
AI help, only when pressed
Either of you can have AI draw a diagram or tidy a drawing, on your own credits. Explain this and Check this working are for the tutor’s eyes only.
How the board works in a lesson
- 1Put the work on itYour tutor can bring a cookie question, and either of you can add a note, a flashcard, a past paper or a picture.
- 2Write on it togetherDraw, write equations and plot graphs on the same board, with a timer you can both see.
- 3Keep itThe board is kept for 365 days. Print it as a worksheet, or make notes, flashcards or questions from any part of it.
A shared screen, or a shared board
Sharing a screen
- Only the tutor can write
- Maths typed out as x^2 and sqrt
- Working photographed and emailed
- Nothing kept once the call ends
With the lesson whiteboard
- You both write on the same board
- Proper notation and a graph plotter
- A photo from your phone, straight onto the board
- The board kept for 365 days
What tutors and students use it for
Working through a question
Your tutor puts a question on the board, you write the method under it, and the two of you find the step that went wrong.
Graphs and diagrams
Plot the function and label it rather than sketching it, or have AI draw the triangle you are describing.
A worksheet from the lesson
Print the board with lines for answers, or turn part of it into flashcards to review on cookie before the next lesson.
Whiteboard FAQ
Can we write maths on the board?
Yes. You both draw and write on the same board, with proper maths notation, a graph plotter and a timer you both see, and the board can read handwriting as typed maths.
Can I show my handwritten working?
Yes. Scan the QR code on the board with your phone and the photo appears on the board for both of you. A PDF or a picture can go on it too.
Is the whiteboard’s AI on all the time?
No. AI help is one optional button, and nothing happens until somebody presses it. A tutor can teach every lesson without it. Explain this and Check this working show their answer to the tutor only, and nothing goes on the board.
Who pays for the AI help?
Each use takes credits from the cookie account of whoever pressed it. Writing, drawing, graphs and photos on the board use none.
Can I use the board without a lesson?
Yes. The online whiteboard has the same maths notation and graph plotter for you on your own. It is kept in your browser, and you can download it or print it as a worksheet.
Try the board before your first lesson
Open the online whiteboard, write an equation and plot a graph. It needs no account.
