Online tutors for students in Hong Kong
Students in Hong Kong sit the HKDSE at local schools, or the IB, IGCSE and A-Level at international ones. Cookie Tutoring is online and covers all of them, with every lesson time shown in Hong Kong time, which is seven hours ahead of the UK in summer and eight in winter.

- Past papersThe boards’ own papers and mark schemes, with grade boundaries, and you can do one in cookie with a timer.
- FlashcardsCards that come back just before you would forget them, including decks other students have shared.
- NotesRevision notes people have shared, to read, download or add to your own and turn into flashcards.
- Revision planSpreads your topics and papers out over the weeks before each exam, around your lessons.
HKDSE or an international curriculum
The HKDSE has four core subjects and two or three electives, examined in one sitting at the end of secondary school, and it is the route into Hong Kong universities. International schools mostly teach the IB Diploma or IGCSE and A-Level, which are the usual routes to the UK.
Find a tutor filters by level, so you can look for HKDSE, IB or A-Level tutors directly.
Evening in Hong Kong is morning in the UK
A 7pm lesson in Hong Kong is midday in the UK in summer and 11am in winter. Tutors publish the hours they are free in their own time, and every slot is converted into Hong Kong time, across both UK clock changes.
Common questions
Do you tutor the HKDSE?
Yes, the core subjects and the electives, including Mathematics with its extended modules. Each tutor lists the subjects they teach.
Can you help a Hong Kong student apply to UK universities?
Yes. UCAS, the personal statement, admissions tests and interviews are all covered, and most UK interviews for overseas applicants are online.
Do I pay in Hong Kong dollars?
No, rates are set and paid in pounds, from £30 an hour, and your bank handles the conversion. Most tutors offer a free 15-minute introduction first.
When are lessons in Hong Kong time?
Every slot is shown in Hong Kong time. Hong Kong is seven hours ahead of the UK in summer and eight in winter, so evening lessons fall in the UK morning.
What happens in a lesson?
A lesson is live and one to one, in a room in your browser: video both ways, a shared whiteboard with proper maths notation, a graph plotter and screen sharing, on a laptop, tablet or phone with nothing to install. The tutor can put questions, notes and past papers on the board, and you can photograph your written work with your phone to put it there. The board is kept for 365 days, so either of you can open it again, print it or make notes, flashcards or questions from it, and the tutor writes a short report afterwards.

How it works here
We are selective about who teaches here: we look for tutors at top universities, we read every application ourselves, and everybody completes an identity check before they are listed. Lessons run in the browser with live video and a shared whiteboard. Rates start at £30 an hour, most tutors offer a free 15-minute intro and their profile says so, and every student gets cookie's study software at no extra cost.
