Online tutors for students in Singapore

Students in Singapore mostly sit the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level and A-Level, or the IB and IGCSE at international schools. Cookie Tutoring is online and covers all of them, and every lesson time is shown in Singapore time, which is seven hours ahead of the UK in summer and eight in winter.

GCE, IB or IGCSE

The Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level and A-Level are set for Singapore, and their syllabuses differ from the UK A-Level of the same name, so a tutor needs to know which one a student is sitting. International schools mostly teach the IB Diploma, often with IGCSE before it.

Find a tutor filters by level and exam board, including SEAB for the Singapore-Cambridge exams.

Evening in Singapore is morning in the UK

A 6pm lesson in Singapore is 11am in the UK in summer and 10am in winter, and weekend mornings in the UK fall on Saturday and Sunday evenings in Singapore. Tutors publish the hours they are free, and every slot is converted into Singapore time for you.

Common questions

Do you tutor the Singapore-Cambridge GCE O-Level and A-Level?

Yes. They are their own syllabuses rather than the UK versions, so tutors list which they teach and you can filter by the exam board, SEAB.

Do you cover the IB and IGCSE for international schools?

Yes, the IB Diploma at Higher and Standard Level, the Extended Essay and TOK, and IGCSE across the main boards.

Do I pay in Singapore dollars?

No, rates are set and paid in pounds, from £30 an hour, and your bank handles the conversion. Most tutors offer a free 15-minute introduction first.

When are lessons in Singapore time?

Every slot is shown in Singapore time. Singapore is seven hours ahead of the UK in summer and eight in winter, so evening lessons fall in the UK morning.

What happens in a lesson?

A lesson is live and one to one, in a room in your browser: video both ways, a shared whiteboard with proper maths notation, a graph plotter and screen sharing, on a laptop, tablet or phone with nothing to install. The tutor can put questions, notes and past papers on the board, and you can photograph your written work with your phone to put it there. The board is kept for 365 days, so either of you can open it again, print it or make notes, flashcards or questions from it, and the tutor writes a short report afterwards.

How it works here

We are selective about who teaches here: we look for tutors at top universities, we read every application ourselves, and everybody completes an identity check before they are listed. Lessons run in the browser with live video and a shared whiteboard. Rates start at £30 an hour, most tutors offer a free 15-minute intro and their profile says so, and every student gets cookie's study software at no extra cost.
